"Great Product and Works Well" 2009-10-11
By
We have a Border Collie/Terrier mix who is still a puppy. He loves to run and play with other dogs. We didn't have fences on the sides of our house so instead of putting them up we got the Innotek SD2000 In-Ground Pet Fencing system. We installed it on our own and it worked out pretty well. I suggest putting aside 4-5 hours to complete the installation for a 1/2 acre piece of property. It works well and now after about four weeks we can let our dog run and we know that he will not run away. We have many dogs on our street(about 11) and he never goes out of the boundries. One dog is always escaping but our dog knows that there is a punishment for going out of the boundry.

"Good, Simple Dog Fence" 2009-06-13
By Sledje (CT United States)
Simple and inexpensive. Works well.

Installation tips: Layout the wire where it is to be installed and test this. Next, using a flat-blade spade shovel, have the lead person step on the shovel a couple inches into the ground and pull it back towards them. This creates a wedge opening. The person a few feet behind them tucks the wire in and steps on the ground closing the opening.

Easy to install.

"Excellent experience with customer service" 2009-06-12
By Thomas P. Keenan (Western, MA USA)
I installed this product myself last summer. Over the winter the transmitter was damaged. I contacted innotek via email, and they responded very quickly. I was expecting a battle from what some other people have posted in their reviews, but they offered to replace the transmitter at no cost. No fighting or questions about it.
I would highly recommend this product to anyone who has a dog that likes to wander down the street. It really works great.

"This is amazing" 2009-05-08
By Mr. Brandy
It took me 2 days to install it. The instructions arent that good, I says to deep 2, I thought it was 2 feet and its only 2 inches.

I realized this after I digged the whole day.

The product works really well. I started to use it on my 5 months Terrier, it hit him 2 times, but he just moved his head, I thought wow, this doesnt do anything. So i adjusted the trap tighter and the little guy just screaming for his life, he actually went trought the fence.

So, yes, Please see the video and train your dog, dogs will not run backwards, this is what you have to train him. To be honest I did not trained him exactly like the instruction but my dog got the point in 2 weeks or so.

The last time he had his collar was 6 months ago. I never had to put it on him again. He never goes over his limit. The little flags I left for 4 months or more, so he grow with them and knows his limit perfectly.

Sometimes im afraid he will cross, so i put the collar one, but he never actually goes near, he only has to hear the sound and knows he isnt allowed to pass. And like I said he only was hit 2 or 3 times in his life by the electricity, one was because i tested it myself. Im not mean but i wanted to be sure he will not cross the street and die hit by a car or stolen by someone.

His is incredible smart. Or stupid in this case, since i dont need the collar, or turn this thing on at all for months now.

I guess this is because I trained him when he was very little.

This product is incredible. I have no fence and he stays inside the boundary. He is so afraid of the limit I have to carry him in my arms when I need to take him out since he will not cross the limit by nothing in the world.

I will probably now get the no barking device for him as well, since he just barks for hours at night and cannot take it anymore. Funny is he starts to bark everyday at 7 PM until 10 PM when he goes to sleep right after me.

"Don't throw your money away" 2010-04-24

This was definitely not worth the money. It worked for one day and then either the sound didn't affect my dog or it just wasn't working. I even put another brand new battery in it. I would definitely say I threw my money away.

"Hopeful at first." 2010-03-31
By Boomer (Salem, OR)
I was hopeful at first, as the item seemed to work on a small yapping dog across the street. The first time I used it he stopped barking and moved to the back of his house. Since then he still barks at me. Maybe a new battery.....hmmmm.

"Worthless When Needed" 2010-03-08
By D. Farley
In a quiet, non-stressful situation such as sitting in the house, our two dogs will acknowledge the sound. However, when walking outside and encountering another dog, which gets them exited, they completely ignore any sound this device might make. Another example of its ineffectiveness is when we were taking our dogs for a walk one evening. We were approached by an unchained, mixed lab. He was across the street and headed toward us. I immediately gave him a quick "zap". He hesitated for just a second, and then continued toward us. I then pushed the button several more times before continuously holding it down. The dog no longer hesitated and kept coming toward us. He was halfway across the street when his owner finally came out of the house and called him back. If you decide to give one of these devices a try, find out what the return policy is. The company we purchased ours from is charging a 25% restocking fee. By the time we pay the fee and the return shipping costs, it's probably not worth the effort.

"Works Great" 2010-02-02
By Craig (Iowa)
Wasn't so sure this would work. Thought it was another gimmick, but it works great. If dog is barking or acting up, one push for a couple of seconds gets their attention and they stop. Now all I have to do is let them see it without pushing it and they stop. Works better than I ever thought it would.

My dog barely reacted to this. We were trying to use it to keep him (a puppy) from chasing after the cats. Also wanted to keep him from jumping up at us at the dinner table. Didn't work for either.

The PetZoom Pet Park is the unique solution for pet accident-free living. Perfect for when you're late coming home to let the dog out, or unable to let your pet outside due to bad weather. Ideal as a training tool for your puppy, it's also great in assisting an older dog that might be unable to go to the bathroom outside. Pet Park is made of a synthetic grass material that looks and feels real. It is weather proof, so you can leave it outside on the patio or balcony. PetZoom Pet Park is non-toxic and is safe to use around your pet. Easy to clean, just wash in warm soapy water. Pet Zoom Pet Park is an indoor pet potty made of a synthetic surface that's similar to grass. It prevents pet accidents by giving your dog a designated place to urinate instead of using your carpet or furniture. Pet Park's triple stage protection allows fluid to pass through the anti-microbial mat. The mat stays high above the liquid in the collection tray because of Pet Park's elevated grid system. It can hold an entire gallon of liquid. Simply empty the collection tray at the end of the day. Pet Park's reusable surface stays fresh and sanitary. It rinses clean and stores easily. Now, you don't have to spend lots of money on expensive dog walkers or messy wee wee pads. With Pet Park, you'll be happy your dog went in the house.

"my dog has yet to use it." 2010-03-30

i received this product in the mail on march 1, 2010

i have yet to be able to train my dog to use it. she just simply wont even stand on the fake grass. every time iv even tried to just have her stand on it she lifts her paws funny as she walks off the the fake grass. i guess it feels funny on her paws. so for me it didn't serve any use at all. needless to say i have installed a dog door and am in the process of rebuilding the back yard fence so she can go outside when she needs to if I'm not home. ill be selling the pet park in my next yard sale. "It Works!" 2010-03-24
By AMH (San Diego, CA)
The Good: Works great! I live in a condo and have the pet park out on the patio. It's only been a few days and my english bulldog puppy already knows to go there on his own. Easy enough to clean.

The Not as Good: The basin below the grassy patch is very shallow, so I'm sure once my dog grows up I'll have to upgrade; for now though, it easily accommodates a day's worth of elimination. Also, because the grass patch just rests on the plastic tray below, my dog occasionally tries to scratch and pull it up; if this sounds like something your dog might do, I wouldn't leave your dog unattended with the pet park unless you clamp the grass to the tray and/or ensure that he's been trained to not play/scratch/bite it. Also, be sure to remove any loose plastic grass blades when you get it.

Overall, works as advertised. Definitely made my life easier.

"Pet Park is perfect for training puppies" 2010-03-21
By C. Wallace (Salt Lake City, Utah)
I have new litter of four Havanese puppies and they are using the Pet Park almost exclusively at the age of 5 weeks! They automatically go to it. The only other place they have been pottying is on the washable piddle pads but I have been slowly removing those and now they are almost perfect at its use at 6.5 weeks. I have multiple adult Havanese and so they use the Potty Park, the one with the drawer underneath, and that works better for them, but this is ideal for puppies or a one-dog family and much less in cost than the Potty Park. It is easy to clean and easy to empty. The easiest way to empty it is to have a plastic bucket right there and then just lift it and angle it so that it empties directly into the bucket. Then you just flush that down the toilet. I wouldn't try carrying it through the house over carpet as the tray isn't very deep, so the bucket is the best way to do it. This is much better than piddle pads (washable or disposable) or a litter box because you aren't constantly washing them or having to buy more pads or litter.

"Excellent product" 2010-03-27
By P. Morris (Boston, MA USA)
I previously purchased a pronged collar to aid in training my 1yr old pit bull. That felt cruel and painful, so I purchased the Gentle Leader Head Collar on a recommendation from an employee at a local pet store.

It came with a 15 minute training DVD which demonstrates, put it on, and fit the collar and some property training techniques. We spent about 15 minutes, putting it on, and getting the fit just right and letting her get used to it before we headed outside. As the video suggested, I had several treats which helped putting it on the first time. The collar fits exactly as advertised: it doesn't choke, and allows her mouth to open and breath without restriction.

Once we got outside, she knew exactly what to do! Because there was no tension on the leash, she was able to detect the slightest pressure to know that she was not doing what I wanted. She was very attentive, and I was able to reward her several times along the walk, when she stopped on command.

Positive, painless reinforcement is definitely the way to go. We've only had this collar for a couple walks, but so far it seems to be a winner.

"Works perfectly" 2010-04-07
By V. Urista (Texas)
Product works flawlessly. I was recommended this collar to help with my dog's insane barking whenever I left the house. The barking and howling seemed to get my dog worked up even more the longer he went at it. I videotape my dog every time I'm gone and after one day using this collar, he showed a considerable improvement. He'll calmly stay in his crate for up to an hour now and is steadily improving.

Highly recommend it. It works.

"Use with caution; can injure some dogs" 2010-04-05
By George Mayhew
I bought the SportDog Rechargeable NoBark 10R Bark Control Collar for my 16-pound, 6-year old Shih Tsu. I brought Lucky home from the Humane Society four months ago, and he is a nearly perfect pet, except for his near-maniacal barking at other dogs. He responds to verbal correction, but I was hoping the collar would work when nobody was in the room with him.

I was very cautious in my use of the collar; I even tested it on myself, before putting it on Lucky. At the lowest intensity setting, the shock is stronger than a typical dry air, touch a door knob, static shock. I compare it to a bee sting - very unpleasant, but very brief, and certainly attention-getting.

I read the instructions thoroughly, twice, and followed them to the letter. The collar did work, in a way, although I don't think Lucky was ever actually shocked. Maybe his previous owner had used a similar collar on him, or maybe he was just embarrassed to wear it, but he never barked while it was on him. The instructions warn against using the collar longer than 12 hours at a time. Lucky wore the collar 2 hours the first day, 4 hours the second day, and 8 hours the third day.

When I removed the collar on the third day, I discovered two bleeding sores where the collar's contacts touched his skin. I don't think that rubbing caused the sores. Lucky probably had a reaction to the metal in the contacts. I stopped using the collar, and returned it to Amazon. Fortunately, the sores healed after a few days of treatment with Neosporin. I'm back to correcting Lucky verbally when he barks, and he is improving, slowly. I might try a sonic correction device, for times when he's home alone.

"Magic collar" 2010-04-05
By Chris Stoll (Dripping Springs, Texas)
I was actually searching the web to see if there was a dog surgery to remove vocal cords or something when I found this collar. Our German Shorthair Pointer goes insane (used to) over squirrels and gets in a frantic cant-stop-barking loop until the squirrel is gone or dead.

So you can hear this bird hound bark for about a mile away, and I do not like to offend my neighbors, and since none of them took it upon themselves to shoot my crazy dog - I had to do something.

Luckily I found this collar and it has been magic, three modes on It, but the default is all I needed. First week I had to recharge the collar twice, then two weeks or so until recharge, and now I recharged it after a couple of weeks just to make sure it was ready as the spring gets all the critters moving around.

So today, dog goes outside, a squirrel is in a tree with no escape, dog goes crazy, collar slowly kicks in, dog fights it for a few barks, then comes seeking my help. In the meantime the squirrel runs away. Peace in the neighborhood!

And if you buy this collar, check out the dog on the box, it looks exactly like mine.

"Quietest day I've ever had at home!" 2010-03-25
By MARANE (CA)
I got this collar yesterday for my 9lb. Maltese, Marina. She has made a sport out of barking, I think she's addicted to it! I put the collar on last night using the temperament learning option (the green light) and rung the door bell. She began her barking and after 4 or 5 barks, my husband and I didn't think it was working. But then all of a sudden, she stopped. She looked kind of funny because she walked backward a little and put her head down, obviously it worked. I pet her to try to make her feel better. I think with each bark the level of correction goes up 1, so obviously it took a few barks to get it to a level that she would respond to. A few minutes later, I rung the bell again. This time only our other dog, a 7 lb. Havanese, starting barking. While our Maltese clearly wanted to bark, she did not. My husband and I were amazed at how quickly it worked and how it only took one time for her to realize the collar meant "no barking". I put the collar on her this morning but I had a difficult time fitting it on her correctly. One contact would be too close and too tight against her neck while the other contact would be too loose. After playing around with where the buckle should be place on her neck (you can slide the collar strap back and forth through the bark device), I found if you keep the buckle close to one side of the bark device, the contacts lay against her neck more evenly. Then I cut the strap because it was too long. So I brought her outside knowing that it would only be a matter of minutes before she would be violently barking at the pitbull next door (yes, she thinks she take him on!). Of course, it was less than a minute and she started running for the gate barking. I kept waiting for her to stop, but she didn't! When I go close enough to her, I saw the bark device was on the side of her neck. I had not made it tight enough. After about 10 more minutes of messing around with the strap and where the buckle should be placed, I made it one hole tighter. I could fit one finger under each contact, but it was a tighter fit than I orignally thought it should be. I tried to slide it around on her neck, but it stayed put. With that, I went into my home office and she followed me in. This is the time of day she loves to bark the most because the dog door is in the office so she can react to each and every sound while still hanging around me. Only a few minutes past when she heard something (which I really didn't hear anything), and she ran out the dog door and started to bark. I followed her out and after about the 5th bark, she did the backward walk move and stopped barking. She followed me back into the office and has not barked once or even felt the need to stick her head out the dog door to "check things out" for over 4 hours now. This is a HUGE, HUGE difference. I usually have to call her back in the house several times and if I lock the dog door, I have to call her away from the front door. When I'm in the shower, I can hear her barking the whole time because I can't call after her (well I can, but she ignores me because she knows I can't follow through and come get her!) She has been laying at my feet this whole morning, actually napping, not on high alert for sounds she can bark at. Our other dog, Sindney, does bark too much too, but it's usually in repsonse to the Maltese who barks at everything. Even Sidney(who is collar-free) is not barking at all this morning because her leader is remaining calm! I have time to write this reveiw because I didn't use my time up trying to get the dogs to stop barking! Wow, I am amazed at how quickly this collar worked and how calm my dog is now because she knows she can't bark. I think the neighbors are going to appreciate this collar too. One collar, two dogs, no barking..... Ahhhh, quiet!

My dog,we will call him "sirbarksalot", stops after the first correction. I'm not sure that he totally gets it, but when he isn't wearing it, it's a bark fest. We live in a wooded resort community with free range cats everywhere and deer in every yard. Poor thing, he is just doing what comes naturally, but after two citations, we had to do something. So far, no more tickets and he is quiet when we get home from work at midnight. Happy to have found this great product on the first try. The PetSafe Wireless Fence pet containment system is a revolutionary concept that provides the safest, simplest form of pet containment ever. Plug in the transmitter somewhere inconspicuous in your home. The transmitter emits a 17.5 kHz radio signal around your home. Your pet wears a lightweight receiver collar that "listens" for the signal. While the collar is receiving the signal, your dog is free to run and play in your yard. When he approaches the boundary of the signal area, he receives a warning beep. If your dog does not return, he receives a static correction which is startling but not harmful. With a little simple training, your dog will quickly learn his boundaries. The training of your pet is a key element with the PetSafe Wireless Fence. Follow the easy instruction and training manual that is included.

Technical Details

- Wireless radio-fence containment system for pets weighing 8 pounds or more
- Covers an adjustable circular area of up to a 1/2 acre (180-foot diameter)
- Receiver delivers safe static correction when pet strays into warning zone
- Waterproof receiver collar uses 6-volt battery; setup and training manual included
- Transmitter measures 8-1/2 by 9 by 9 inches; receiver measures 1 by 2 by 1 inches

"A random pet shocking device for sadistic pet owners." 2010-04-03
By B. Buck (MO United States)
Like others have said, the biggest problem is that the collars deliver shocks randomly, for no reason at all even when the collar is 10' from the sending unit!

After fighting this for 4 years I regret not returning it immediately. We have returned several units for "repair", and actually ended up running two antennas hoping to solve the problem. I have lost track of how many collars we have bought or had replaced for our 2 dogs. Several.

The company's explanation was quite varied, sometimes amusing, but always my fault: I had the antenna in the garage (too cold or too hot), I had it against a wall in the house (can't be near metal or electrical fields and surprise! I have nails and wiring in my walls!) Did we have cordless phones or a wireless network (both big no-no's!)Garage door openers, television sets, radio interference, power surges, etc, etc and etc.

Was even told collars were not to be worn indoors. They need to read their own literature where it explains how you can set up inside boundaries. I guess when you bring the dog inside you are supposed to take the collar off and leave it outside? Not a bad idea actually because the thing goes off just siting on the table next to the antenna! Watch Fido jump !

Since they go off randomly the batteries wear out quick. They figured how to make the product even more annoying by changing to a battery you have to buy from them. You can't go to the store anymore and buy a CR2032 battery for $2. Nope, that was too easy.

Collar units fall apart. The correction boundary changes minute-to-minute. Good luck trying to use 2 collars on two dogs, they will never have the same perimeter. But again the ABSOLUTE WORST part of the system is the trauma it does to your pets when they receive shocks for no reason at all when they are only a few feet from the antenna.

If you want to turn your dog into a psychotic and paranoid bundle of nerves that is afraid to go outside, and if you get a kick out of watching your pet get zapped for no reason a couple times a day this is the product for you.

"PetSafe 300 wireless - I love it!" 2010-03-15
By S. Koch (Gilbert, AZ, US)
I didn't know what to expect when I ordered this product, but based upon other reviews, I hoped for a positive product. I can't be more pleased. It sets up in minutes. The radiowave machine makes no noise (I wasn't sure what to expect). It is a trial/error type of figuring out the distances. I tried first about 70ft diameter, but found that was too much to keep my whippet/greyhound from jumping the side fence to the neighbor's yard. I then moved it to 45ft diameter. Before putting the collar on the dog, I walked with the collar close to my ear and placed the white flags when I first heard the warning buzzing. I then walked the dog w/o the collar on to each flag and said a loud NO! After putting on the collar, I had the dog follow me throughout the backyard - she would not even go close to the flags -- and I DID NOAT coax her to cross them either - it is about PREVENTING - if the dog should jump the fence, it may be afraid to return because of the shock, so be careful!!! Praising her for staying away from the flags was important. Now she only goes so far in the yard. No more fence jumping. I will remove the flags in a month or two. I have the collar set on 4! But But be careful to REMOVE the collar before you take the dog in the car somewhere. I forgot, luckily didn't get out of the garage before the dog started to get excited. I knew immediately and took off the collar and put on her other hiking collar. Whew! No zapping! One issue, tho, is that the waves don't seem to go through my metal shed on the side of the house, but it is OK because the waves pick up on the other side of it should the dog get that far. Great product!!!

"Glad I bought it" 2010-03-12

I was a little nervous about spending this much on a system I was not sure would work with my dog. But we followed the training instructions (actually extended the training time by a week before we turned on the "juice"), and it has worked beautifully on our 10 acre parcel.

I agree with the reviews that note the moving boundaries, so we concentrated more on the beep from the collar than the white warning flags. They seem to be a good rule of thumb for my dog on a calm day, but if it's windy out the borders move. She responds to the beep with the collar set at level 2 for static shock.

After having the system a few months, we put it to the true test, and let her play outside with the neighbor's dog. When the boundary was reached, she turned and re-entered the safe zone, even if her pal was running outside it. They now happily play within the zone, and she does not mind having the collar put on her (we take it off inside the house)at the door.

My advice is to give your dog the time they need to get used to the concept of beeping/run to the door if you have a moving boundary issue, and it won't matter that it moves, unless you live on a small parcel.

My only negative is that I do wish this system did not use a proprietary battery.

"worked great after only two days!" 2010-03-11

Our dog, without fail, would run to the neighbors' yards, driveways, and into the street. Once the correction phase began he became a new pet. Fantastic product!

"PetSafe makes porcupine encounters nil" 2010-03-02
By T. L. Starks (Maine)
I highly recommend this appliance, hands down. I should have come on earlier with this...moved to the Northeast, Labs nor I familiar with porcupines. In the first month, we had two trips to the vet- emergency wise. Very expensive, painful, and the injuries do not make the dogs retreat, but retaliate...every chance they got.
Invested in this little wondrous machine and by golly, it works like a miracle. It only took 1 week to train, although that might be stretching it....meaning, in a few days the dogs were quite secure and safe in their boundary area and learned not too painfully quick- to avoid the boundary line. My dogs are big chocolate Labs who were use to roaming free in the backwoods and on the backroads of the Midwest. For their own protection, this system beats fencing, chaining- it virtually allows them the freedom they need with the safety required for them to live a long satisfying life. As an owner, I am ever thankful such a product exists that protects my friends/dogs.

(Please note: The fence does not keep porcupines out, but!!! The dogs stand at their boundaries barking and carrying on with the prickly pigs in sight and the porcupine takes that as a no trespassing sign and has not entered...yet.)
