The Gentle Leader Easy Walk Harness is designed to gently discourage your dog from pulling while walking on a leash. Unlike traditional collars, our harness never causes coughing, gagging, or choking because the chest strap rests low across the breastbone. Its unique front chest leash attachment stops pulling by steering your dog to the side and redirecting his attention towards you. And, its patent pending martingale loop provides extra leverage for easy, relaxed control and prevents harness twisting and gapping. Sizing based on dog's girth size. Large fits girths of 26"-36". Breeds such as Shepherds, Rotties, etc.

This product might have been previously called the easy walker and sold by the company that sold the gentle leader products. Great harness that has two connection clips for attaching or removing the harness depending on how you'd like to work it. The harness slips easily over your pets head and can be attached without removing your pets neck/tag collar. We bought a new one after 4 years of constant daily use, the nylon harness material wore out rather than any of the buckles/clips or hardware. Works better than any harness on the market we tried to control a lab that wanted to pull us around the block. This harness will tighten around the chest of the pet to correct the tugging behavior without resorting to neck choke type corrections. Excellent harness, quality materials and totally humane.

I purchased this harness from PetSmart about 2 years ago. And I continue to recommend it. Choke collars are so dangerous and can cause your dog to damage or collapse their airways if they pull too hard. this could kill fido, or give you some extensive vet bills and him a lot of pain. I find this leader much more effective than stupid choke chains
The gentle leader is great.
My neighbor first showed me the harness on her Pomeranian, and I had to buy it for my border collie. It works by scrunching the front legs if they pull, making their footing really strange and hard for them to continue walking. It is very effective.
***I will say that if the dog lunges forward, the way the harness connects in the front make it so the dog will whip around and he will instantly be facing you, this makes it very easy to break the eye contact between aggressive dogs and correct the behavior.
The only problem I would mention is that after long-term use(a year or so) the woven straps will be softer and slighty stretched out. It doesnt lose its shape but i have to readjust the fit more often now, and it will loosen up easier if your dog has a fit trying to lunge and jerk trying to get at another dog. Also, many people dont know how to put these on dogs since the leash attaches in the front of the chest instead of behind the shoulders. So be sure to inform your dog walker and groomer and all members of the family on how to strap this on properly.

I adopted my daughter's Boxer when she went into the Army. The dog is 2 years old and 55 lbs and strong as a bull. She used to live where she had a big yard to play but I don't have a big yard so need to walk her 2x a day minimum. She is so strong she used to pull me around and it was exhausting and dangerous! She even pulled me out into the street once when she saw another dog coming. Luckily there were no cars coming. I tried a gentle leader on her but we both hated it and it made her eyes and nose run. A trainer recommended the Easy Walk Harness and it was like a freaking miracle! It is so much more pleasurable and safe to walk her now. She still pulls but not very hard and if she pulls too much it just turns her around toward me and she stops. We are both happier and safer. My only concern is that I'm not able to adjust the straps perfectly and she occasionally gets pink friction marks in her armpits. It would be nice if someone made a sheepskin pad to slip over the belly strap to cut down on the friction. Anyway, if your dog is a strong puller, you need an Easy Walk dog harness.

I would give it 2.5 stars if I could, but I'll let Amazon round it up to 3, since they don't do .5s in the ratings. I wanted to really like this item and even ignored some of that bad reviews. Like some of the other reviews, my dog got welts under her arms where the harness cradled her chest. She didn't pull too much, but I just didn't like the fact that she had these welts on her. I did check a few times to make sure that it wasn't too tight on her. It works, but don't be surprised if your dog gets welts, since the harness isn't made of smooth material.

We started walking our Labrador retriever and were so tired of her pulling and choking herself on her flat collar so we figured we would give this a try. If you have a well-trained older lab, this will probably work fine, but it's not working for our 7 month old lab (trained at the "intermediate" level). If the leash has any slack, or is in the down position (lowered to the floor - so we can step on the leash), she can pull her legs out and the collar portion of the harness just slips off. We have had her got out of this several times, and had her escape once. She is by no means small and is almost full size (65 lbs).
We have it setup right, the problem is, the front portion of the harness, whether it's on very tight, or loose, allows for slack if it slips down, once it does, it can easily come off.
The way around this was to use both a collar and this harness. The harness is held on better by the collar and both are hooked to the leash. This solves some of the problems of the flat collar, and we still get the use out of the harness; but this of course requires our dog to look silly, and is at a greater cost to us.
So, this is NOT a good training harness. As the dog is older and learns to always listen, even with distractions (such as a fast running cat in the front yard) then this might be for you. Otherwise, keep looking. We are trying a few other things we purchased here on Amazon (way cheaper than the pet store) and hope something works for training and preventing injury. We don't want to use choke or spiked collars, so we were hoping this was what we needed...
