Love it!!! Bought this for my daughters cat who is only about 8lbs. We put it right next to her old litter box and left the old one dirty and she used the new one right away!! It is NOT noisy, you cannot even hear it running. We bought arm and hammer clumping litter which I would consider on the cheap side, it works great!! We put walmart bags in the catch container and have no problems, no odor, we empty it every 3-4 days and it's less than 1/2 full!! We did spray the bottom of the round tray with "pam" as recommended. You do have to use a scoop every couple of days for some of the smaller clumps that fall through the grate. Overall this is a terrific time and hassle saver for us.

"I honestly thought I had done everything right. I did all my research, looked at all the online reviews; very few people seemed unhappy with it, so as the owner of 3 cats, I gave it a try. I was very optimistic at first and didn't even mind doing daily maintenance on it, picking up the smaller clumps that the conveyor missed. I kept telling myself it was the litter, so I went through 4 different types of clumping litter, such as tidy cats, A&H (as suggested by people online) and the most expensive ever clean, I deemed this litter box completely useless. I had to take a scooper and an old kitchen strainer to it almost everyday to get rid of those tiny clumps that were left behind. I've since then gone back to normal litter box (booda dome). And when I called to complain about the quality of the litterbox, the rep i spoke with on the phone said she had one and it's broke 6 or 7 times in one year and she's had a few replacements ( due to the 2 year warranty). I work for a very successful national petstore ( I won't name names) and I'm very dissappointed that we stock this product. No wonder why we never sell any! And they don't make a cover for it, so if your cat kicks up litter like my male does, FORGET ABOUT IT. You'll see more litter on the floor around it than you do in the litter box!"

The Petsafe Automatic Litter box is the best and I whole-heartedly recommend it to any cat-owner searching for an automatic litter box. First, the machine itself is silent; because of the quiet I highly recommend this box for skittish or anxious cats (my two cats adjusted to it from a standard litter box in just one week). I also particularly like this box because I don't have to buy special refill trays or different litter. The refill trays are the worst because they're not only expensive, but after a while they can be discontinued and then you have to start over and buy a new litter box! On the other hand, changing the type/brand of litter you use is annoying and can lead to your cat eliminating in unwanted areas. Both of the consequences are avoided with the Petsafe litter box.
The more consistency, the better, when changing a cat's box and the fact their area remained constant (same quiet environment, same litter) really helped my cats easily make the transition. Finally, this litter box not only is convenient and saves time, but it also saves me money. Because the clumps would sit in the old box until I could scoop them out, I felt they contaminated the "clean" litter, and so I dumped the litter and cleaned the box weekly, but now that the clumps are automatically and continuously being removed, the remaining litter stays fresher, longer, meaning I don't have to buy litter as often. That's an annual savings of 75% for me and it easily pays for the very reasonably priced Petsafe Litter Box.

Don't waste your money. Worked well for less than six months then stopped scooping. Placed call to customer service, their diagnosis was a faulty motor and would ship new one out as soon as possible. It has been three months today, repeated calls have resulted in same non-answer. "part is on back order with no available shipping date known." Unacceptable, this is not 100% satisfaction guarantee where i come from and never worked well enough to justify cost of replacing unit every 6 months.

This box works great. It is not loud and seems to do a good job and reducing odors. We have two cats and it keeps up fine. It does need to be emptied every few days but the procedure is easier and less messy then other automatic boxes. What is messy is the amount of little that gets kicked out. If they would have made the box sides a few inches taller I would give it 5 stars. Still we are very happy with this box and hope it will last for the long haul.(we have had it a couple months now)
