I have cats who like to drink from the sink. With this, they are happy. Problem is, the pump failed after only one year. If you get one, I recommend you take it apart once a month and clean it thoroughly, including the pump. Otherwise, it gets fouled up with hair and some sort of slime. Just refilling it isn't enough. I'm ordering a replacement pump for about $25 from the manufacturer, but it's worth it. My cats are very, very happy with this product, and I don't worry about them running out of water on a daily basis. I refill it twice a week with filtered water.

I purchased this item because I already had a dog and was going to buy two cats and didn't want to be constantly filling up a water bowl. I only ended up buying one cat, but no matter. This product is is great! My animals have fresh water all the time and I don't have to fill it with water very often. The motor is slightly loud, but for the convenience, it's hardly an issue. My cat loves it and my dog seems to be drinking more water than usual, which can only be a good thing for him. The only thing I don't like is cleaning it is a little awkward, but for the benefits, I find it is worth it. My boyfriend likes it so much as well that he is buying one for his cat. Yes, it seems a little pricey, but if you can afford it, I'd buy it. Recommend highly, especially if you have bigger or multiple pets.

The 2 male kittens we got in 9/09 are CATS now and started roaming the house looking for an open toilet lid from our 4 toilets. They would follow my husband or I into the bathrooms; although we'd toss them out we'd find them waiting outside the bathroom door and this was getting too weird! After following a house guest into the bathroom and another guest finding a cat helping themselves to a drink, we decided we needed a solution. I researched for a pet drinking system that had running water, a quite water pump and a large reservoir. The Drinkwell Platinum fit these requirements and the reviews were helpful. I ordered it 3/10/10 through DebnRoo and received it 3/17/10. We're happy with the Drinkwell Platinum fountain, the cats enjoy drinking and watching the running water, they drink more than before and even the Golden Retriever drinks from it when he's inside. The large reservoir is refilled once during the week. The Drinkwell Platinum needs to be cleaned weekly, but this is not difficult after following directions. Well worth the $65 when I compare it to kitchen appliances I've purchased but seldom use.

We upgraded from the original Drinkwell. This one is easier to clean and much quieter. The only drawbacks we have discovered are that the grate appears to cause water foam and we wish it could clean itself - other than that, the product does what it claims and we are happy with the purchase.
