Great for cats and dogs, this fully automatic pet feeder features a tough plastic base that holds a food reservoir for food "on demand." The electronic pet feeder's simple, programmable electronics prompt the feeder to dispense portions from 1/4 to 2 cups at three selected times per day. The unit can be set to meet scheduled feeding times and amounts when caretakers are away, but it is not meant to replace human care--please be sure someone still visits the pet daily. The unit's hopper holds 5 pounds of food and accommodates a full range of dry food sizes, shapes, and types. The feeding bowl is removable for easy cleaning. Required batteries, which are not included, sustain a long battery life of six months. One-year limited warranty.

"Poor Dispenser" 2010-03-31
By M. Cipponeri
My husband and I both have erratic schedules. We bought the feeder in hopes of keeping our dog on a feeding schedule. The first day I got this item I tested it to make sure it would feed her correctly. The first time it dispensed food it was a lot less than 1/4 of a cup and the second it was a lot more. I did it a few more times to make sure that it would eventually dispense the right amount--and it did. I kept track of the amount of times food was dispensed to ensure my dog was indeed being fed when I couldn't feed her. I discovered (after having the product for a month and a half) that the number would change to say it dispensed food but nothing came out. No lights ever blinked nor were the batteries dead. I don't know how many times it didn't feed my dog but even if she missed only one meal, that is one time too many. Luckily, I only used it to feed her dinner a couple of times. Now, I am out of the time frame where I am able to return the item for all of my money back. This item is cheaply made and overpriced. I would not recommend it to any one who actually wants their pets to eat.

"disappointing" 2010-03-30

My dumb-as-rocks but highly food-motivated cat figured out how to get kibble out of this feeder within the first 10 minutes.

"dog feeder" 2010-03-30

The unit would not work correctly at first. My son, who also has one of these, worked it over and it is now working right. I'd followed the directions but I could not set the unit different than the default setting. He could not get it to change for a while but finally got it to respond. It seems to work good now.

"Not as good as our original Le Bistro" 2010-03-29
By Jennifer Dorton (Arlington, VA United States)
I was excited to buy the new Le Bistro automatic feeder. Our old one quit working after 5 years. Unfortunately, one of our cats could easily get his paw into the dispensing area of the new Le Bistro and was able to knock food into the dish. So, instead of having the two cats on an automatic timer for food dispensing, one cat treated the Le Bistro as a self-service food machine. I ended up emptying the food from the canister area and now only use the Le Bistro if we are out of town. I also make certain that I put in just enough food for the time that we are away so that the cats can't gorge themselves too much.

"Not as great as expected for the money" 2010-03-25
By luvsmusicndance (MI USA)
I bought this to use while I am away on vacations and for awhile I was using it daily until I realized that it is no better at controlling how much they eat than leaving a bowl of food out. The fat cat quickly realized she can snack whenever she wants by sticking her paw up inside and bending the flimsy plastic. When it said "portion control" I thought they'd have made it a lot harder for the cats to do this!
