I hate this gate! I was so excited when I found it on Amazon. I thought that it would be perfect for me with my soon to be new born baby. I could open and close the baby gate with the ease of using one hand.. plus, it would stay in its original place. NOT THE CASE! Sure its where we placed it, but after a couple of times opening it with one hand it becomes harder to do, not easier. My two older girls (10 & 7) have a very difficult time opening this gate. At times they cant open it at all and ask for help getting out of the hall that leads from their rooms. Helping can be difficult when you have your hands full with a baby task. Plus it had a loud click to it when it is opened. When I called the company & told them I was sent a message saying I needed to adjust the tightness on the mounts. It didn't help & I didn't receive another reply to a second complaint. Its nice in the sense that you don't have to lift a handle and completely remove the gate. It stays in its place, but it is not easy to open. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend this to anyone & I strongly advise looking elsewhere until they somehow improve this product.

The design on this gate is horrible! To open it you press 2 buttons on either side of the gate and push a lever down - simple right. WRONG! The buttons are poorly postioned and are so hard to press in you need to do it with one hand while you push the lever down with the other. After a month of fighting with the gate and having to put the baby down every time we walked through it we tossed it where it belonged - in the garbage.

I bought this to put in the hallway to keep our dogs out of the back of the house and it works wonderfully. It was easy to set up and get working, and there's no need to damage the walls to install it. The bars are close enough together that the puppy wasn't able to slip through them, and the door opening is big enough for even an overweight adult like me to easily walk through. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the opening mechanism for the door. It's perfect for making sure a child (or a smart dog) can't open it, but even for an adult, it's a little difficult to operate. It also took a week or so to work in before it became a bit easier to operate. Overall, though I'm very happy with it.

This gate is a pain to install and not easy to operate. I bought it to use as a temporary pet gate so I did not want to spend a lot. It must be installed PERFECTLY upright, and even then it is difficult to adjust the pressure so that it opens correctly. Pressure too light, gate opens with just a push, pressure to heavy, gate is hard to open. The green/red dot indicator is not really helpful, as in my house, functional installation produced a half-green, half-red dot. You cannot open the gate with anything in your hand (like a cup of tea or a baby). And woe is you if you install it incorrectly and have to re-do it, it boings open because it requires tremendous pressure to operate. (Tie it shut first!) Once installed, it does the job of keeping a large dog in place, and I suppose if you have a toddler, the difficulty of operation could be a plus. I bought a used First Years (The First Years Hands Free Gate) foot operated gate for $3 in a local junk store, and even though it was missing some parts, it is still a much easier gate to install and use. Spend the extra money for a different gate unless you are up for some aggravation.

We placed this gate about 3 steps up from the bottom of the staircase to keep our cats out of the upstairs of our home. It works great. They haven't jumped or anything. My cats are 11 years old--that may be why. Gate works perfectly. It was a little hard to put together since the directions depict the parts that attache to the wall kinda odd. I looked at the box picture and got more help.
