The KeepSafe Break-Away Collar is the only collar that has a patented safety buckle that is designed to protect dogs from collar accidents and can be used securely with a leash. Did you know thousands of dogs are injured or strangled by their collars each year? In a recent survey, 96% of veterinarians reported having seen/heard of a collar-related injury or death within the last year. Any dog wearing a collar can potentially get into trouble with the collar becoming caught. Accidents happen regardless of size/type of dog, type of traditional collar or amount of supervision. The majority of collar accidents occur in the safety of the backyard or even the living room . Small 10"-14", Medium 14"-20", Large 18"-28", X-Large 22"-34"

"Great Collar" 2010-01-11
By Kathryn Hagerman
A break-away collar was required by the dog boarding service we used when we went on vacation, but we were unable to find one at the local pet store. This one came in a choice of colors and at a reasonable price. The collar looks great and works as described. Since it has the override feature for leash attachment, we have just replaced the old collar permanently with this one! So far our dog has not tested the break-away feature, but it is comforting to know it's there.

"Good not great dog collar" 2010-01-07

The collar answers my needs for a breakaway collar used for the dog's safety. Only problem is that it breaks away too easily.

"Quick Release Works Pretty Well" 2009-10-05

I got these collars after my dogs got their teeth intertwined in each other's collars more than once (they play rough). It's not easy trying to break up up a 100lb rottweiler his 50lb companion when their both panicking & stuck together yelping. I've found both collars loose around the yard from time-to-time which means they had enough force to yank them off. The bummer thing is that when we try to grab them by their collars (like when someone comes to the door), the collars pop off. I fear that they'll somehow get out of the yard and loose their collar with their tags but they are microchipped. There's more of a chance that they get hurt or choke while no one's home than there is for them to get out.

"Life Saver" 2009-10-02

I've had Break-Away collars on both my dogs for quite some time now and they are truly life savers. My dogs are still rather rambunctious puppies, but the collars break loose only in emergency situations. It takes some getting used to attaching the leash, but it's more than worth it.
I wish they came in more colors/designs and with silver metal instead of gold, but I'd much rather my dogs be alive and safe than fashionable.

"Does exactly what they say it will." 2009-07-21
By Rebecca Hartong (Fairfax, VA USA)
I bought one of these collars for my Bedlington Terrier. He goes to the dog park fairly often and sometimes the dogs play fairly rough, wrestling around on the ground and chasing and such. I wanted him to be safe, in case another dog accidentally got hold of his collar. Happily, I haven't needed to test the collar under dog-play circumstances, but I can tell you the collar DOES break away when under stress. When you take your dog for a walk, you need to be careful to get your leash clipped through BOTH of the D-rings on the collar. One time I accidentally only connected one D-ring. My dog saw one of his best dog-friends and began pulling quite hard at his leash (we're working on eliminating that problem, he's only a puppy) and -- snap! -- the collar popped open and off he went. Luckily, he was fairly easily captured, but... good to know the collar does what it's supposed to!
